ABOUT US
Our Origin Story
Cordon Housing was established in 2022 by a Marine Corps veteran and an Army veteran, each with extensive backgrounds in real estate development, public finance, and housing policy. Drawing on experience with private REITs, state housing authorities, and national development firms, our founders recognized critical gaps in housing access for veterans.
Too often, veterans eligible for resources such as VASH vouchers were unable to utilize them due to limited landlord participation and systemic barriers. Meanwhile, many disabled veterans with modest incomes fell just outside the thresholds for traditional programs like LIHTC and Section 8, leaving them underhoused or cost-burdened.
In response, we formed Cordon Housing as a mission-driven nonprofit that operates with the strategic mindset of a for-profit enterprise. Our model leverages real estate investments and available tax advantages to expand access to high-quality, veteran-focused housing.
Following our 501(c)(3) designation in 2023, we remain committed to building sustainable, scalable solutions that address housing instability and honor the service of those who have served.

Our Vision
At Cordon Housing, we envision a future where every veteran—regardless of background or income, has access to safe, stable, and dignified housing.
We believe housing is more than shelter; it’s the foundation for opportunity, healing, and long-term well-being. Our vision is to build a national network of communities where veterans are not only housed, but supported, through partnerships that integrate services, uphold dignity, and foster personal growth.
By uniting public, private, and philanthropic resources, we aim to expand veteran housing options nationwide, prioritizing affordability, accessibility, and meaningful impact at every level of housing.
Advocacy For Veterans Housing
At Cordon Housing, we believe that veterans deserve more than just access, they deserve advocacy. We work to elevate veteran housing as a priority in affordable housing policy and project planning by actively engaging with state and local agencies, financing partners, government officials, and private developers.
As a veteran-led organization with deep real estate expertise, we serve as both a strategic partner and a credible voice in shaping veteran housing solutions. From site selection to financing strategy, we help for-profit developers identify opportunities to reserve units for veterans—and support them in securing the resources needed to make those projects successful.
We also leverage our partnerships to coordinate services that promote stability and quality of life for veteran residents—ensuring that housing is not just delivered, but truly impactful.
